I thought I'd share three new and surprising marketing/publicity ideas. I'm always on the lookout for new stuff and am so thankful for everyone posting here who often come up with innovative ideas. Keep coming back for more!
Here are three new tips:
1. Leverage the power of YouTube. Christ Epting, the author of the upcoming book Led Zeppelin Crashed Here started to create buzz for his book by making short little movies about the book or related to the book. You may watch them here. If you have a video recorder, some simple movie software (or your are proficient at Power Point), consider trying your hand at creating a book trailer. You Tube, as some believe, is the TV of the 2000s. If you can make the movie quirky and funny, all the better.
2. Consider a book club leader giveaway. With my novels, I realized that word of mouth would sell them, particularly word of mouth between book groups. So I advertised on my blog that I'd give the book free to book club leaders. I got great response! And, by the way, there are a few more Wishing on Dandelions available if you're a book club leader. Click here for more details.Below are my advertisements for each book:
3. Send Oprah an email. OK, so I haven't heard back yet from the queen of TV, but you just never know. Click here to go to the page where they share their show topics. If one of the topics relates to the subject of your book, grrrreat! Send a persuasive email! You won't know until you try.
There you have it! You Tube, Book Clubs and Oprah. Say that ten times fast!
