Aloha from Karen
It's hard to think that the Christmas season is here. I just celebrated meeting my husband 38
years ago and it's hard to think how fast the time has gone by. Our oldest son
leaves for Iraq in less than two months. His wife and two little ones will move in
with us while he is deployed so life will change!
As treasurer of CAN I've enjoyed getting to know many authors in this network.
We try to help promote one anothers books. That's part of being in the body of
Christ-to offer encouragement and support. Whether you are an aspiring writer or
well-published the Christmas season is a wonderful opportunity to share Christ
through books. I want to share a few ideas about helping one another.

Aloha from Karen,
I lived in Hawaii years ago (in Coast Guard Housing) and the word conveys so much more than greetings. It extends love and a desire to be together again. I love the thought of staying connected to other people interested in writing or with a passion to share the Christian faith. That's also at the heart of CAN members. I want to chat about the wonderful new members of CAN that I've had the privilege to welcome this summer.

Next week I head to the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference to teach and network. It's always fun to meet new faces and inspire one another as writers.

Let's chat with Winnie Griggs, who has taught at many writers conferences, about her experiences, and networking. She took a long time to sell her first book and then had a time lapse between switching publishers.

Aloha from Karen,

I spent last week at the International Christian Retail Show seeing new releases and talking to people in the industry. The good news is that many editors wanted to review proposals and are looking to publish more books!
Let's meet Vickie McDonough, an award winning author of 16 novels

I've been away with family and took time off from the writing. Tomorrow I leave for ICRS, the International Christian Retail Show. That's an exciting place to see new products, look at the marketing campaigns, meet up with author friends, and meet with editors to discuss book proposals and ideas. My days will be packs as I'm quite scheduled up.
Let's get to know Susan Marlow who is great at tapping into her audience via the home school market. If that made you think she must write for kids, you're write! She's combined a love of kids with a love of horses and writing for a great fiction series.
Susan says that writing has 'been in my blood' since she was ten years old.

I've interviewed a number of CAN authors this year and themes that keep cropping up are Internet related such as blours and social networks. Today, I'll chat about a few ways to tap into the power of the Internet to expand on what the past several interviews have mentioned.
Sandra Felton, a friend, had a book released recently and positioned it to make a big splash on Amazon. It worked very well. She already had been tapping into the Internet, and simply extended her reach.
