Wishing you a blessed wintery Monday from Gail Gaymer Martin www.gailmartin.com
Marketing is important for publishers and authors, but we can’t forget that our books would never reach our readers without booksellers. When we’re in stores to do booksignings, we hope they’ve planned ahead to encourage their book buyers to attend the event, and when we’re there, we are pleased when they give us a spot near the door with great in-store advertising, but booksellers can help sell our books in other ways as well.
While authors can encourage readers to buy our books, we can be knowledgeable about ways to support booksellers. I was reading an article the other day called "Thought Full" Marketing for Booksellers to Keep Customers for Life by Kare Anderson. Ideas from branding a store, such as the "Best Little Bookstore in Town" to filling the store with seasonal scents to lure customers and help them remember. While authors can’t accomplish all of these things as we mark our books, read the tips and ask yourself how you can assist your booksellers in making the most of their store to what tips can you use for your own marketing.
